Business and restaurant closures and changes

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is a pandemic. Reported illnesses range from very mild to severe, including death. Agencies anticipate widespread transmission will occur in the U.S. in coming months and recommend social distancing among other measures to slow the spread. As Memphis works to avoid the spread of the coronavirus or COVID-19, we'll be keeping track of businesses and restaurants that have changed hours or are offering different services to help customers as they observe social distancing

Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland announced Thursday that he is Memphis News declaring a civil emergency, which means all restaurants and bars must close their dining rooms effective at midnight Friday. The emergency does not affect takeout options and does not apply to grocery stores, health care facilities or residential care facilities.

Since Monday, restaurants started offering curbside delivery or switched exclusively to takeout. Below is a list of businesses that have changed their hours and a quick-glance listing of restaurants offering curbside pickup at the end of the story.



Goner Records (2152 Young Ave): The Cooper-Young record store has temporarily closed and will continue to serve customers online

Capital Grille (6065 Poplar Ave): Its hours have changed to 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., 5-9 p.m. (M-F), 5-9 p.m. (Sa.), 4-8 p.m. (Su.). For curbside pickup, customers must pay over the phone before arriving.

Slider Inn: The downtown location has been closed but the Midtown location (2117 Peabody Ave.) remains open with usual hours (11 a.m.-3 a.m.)

Enjoy AM Restaurant Group Restaurants: All Enjoy AM restaurants have closed effectively immediately. This includes Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen, Catherine & Mary's, The Gray Canary and Bishop. The restaurants are working on to-go menus for curbside pickup and delivery. More details to come.

Low Fi Coffee (387 S. Main St.): From now until March 22, Low Fi Coffee is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for pick-up window style service. Text orders to 407-921-3004. Starting March 23, the coffee shop will close and will shift to online sales of whole bean coffee.

Blue Nile Ethiopian Restaurant: Blue Nile has closed until further notice.

Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers: All locations have closed their dining rooms but will continue to serve drive-thru and carry-out.

Celtic Crossing Irish Pub (903 Cooper St.): The Cooper-Young bar is changing its hours to 4 p.m.to 12 a.m. (M-F), 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. (Saturday), 10:30 a.m. to midnight (Sunday).

Railgarten (2166 Central Ave.): Along with sister venues Rec Press Release Distribution Services In Memphis Room and Highland Axe & Rec, Railgarten is temporarily closing its doors for public health. Loflin Yard is continuing under normal hours and providing takeout.

Bounty on Broad (2519 Broad St.): Bounty has closed their dining room. Beginning March 19, they will be offering takeout with curbside delivery.

Interim (5040 Sanderlin): Interim has closed for the next 15 days. 

Muddy's Bakeshop: The East Memphis location at 5101 Sanderlin is now open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Muddy's Midtown at 585 S. Cooper St. is temporarily closed. Curbside pickup will be added at their kitchen at 2497 Broad St. stating March 19.
